Funding & Partnerships

PentaBase’s research and development is supported by strategic partnerships and funding from leading European institutions. Our collaborative projects drive innovation in molecular diagnostics and advance healthcare solutions worldwide.

The new gold standard of cervical cancer screening.

The goal of this JTF valorization project is to improve existing diagnostic methods, alleviate the workload in the healthcare sector, and make high quality, personalized healthcare more accessible with regard to the early detection of cervical cancer. To develop and validate a prototype qPCR test using a technique and platform that does not require a bisulfite conversion step, thereby improving speed and sustainability while reducing testing time and cost. As a result, significantly more woman in the Netherlands and worldwide can be tested more quickly, and more cases cervical cancer can be detected at an early stage. This project is co-funded by the European Union.

DNA-Methylation for ovarian cancer stratification

Up to 20 % more women with ovarian cancer could benefit from improved treatment through the introduction of Pentabase’s platform technology, EpiDirect®, into the diagnostic process.
EpiDirect® enables a direct quantification of DNA methylation without pre-treated DNA, resulting in a much simpler, faster, and more reliable determination of the methylation level in a sample.
In this project, we aim to develop an assay for BRCA1 gene methylation that can be easily and cost-effectively integrated into the existing diagnostic pathway for ovarian cancer.
